Our Story
Thunderbird Auto is in John Rauscher’s blood.
Founded in 1976 by Whit Revell, Thunderbird Auto was a Chevron station with a garage, offering repairs and service. It remained that way until 2003 when the fuel tanks were removed and the shop converted strictly to auto repair.
Johns’ dad, Mike, bought the shop in 2006. With a background in dealership management, Mike wanted a legacy, something that was all his own. At Thunderbird Auto, he had just that — growing the business into a local favorite, serving drivers across Phoenix. If you know the city, you know Thunderbird Auto.
John worked in several different parts of the shop for many years. Loyal customers of Thunderbird have known him since he was 13 years old, helping with the family business. From service writing to service manager, John learned how to manage every aspect of the shop until he took over as owner when his father fell ill. With his mother’s help, John has grown Thunderbird twofold in a short time, allowing everyone in the Thunderbird Auto family to prosper.
At Thunderbird, it’s all about family, honesty, and integrity. This philosophy guides everything we do, helping our staff offer the best possible service.
Our Team
Manager, Brock Lohman, graduated from the Arizona Automotive Institute in 1989, working in the auto service industry for over 20 years. By sheer happenstance, Brock drove by Thunderbird Auto almost every day for two decades. He not only knew the shop, but he knew it was a great place to work and receive service.
As luck would have it, he ran into John at a Circle K around the corner, one thing led to another, and Brock took the helm of the shop.
He shares John’s family-first philosophy. Brock focuses on honesty and integrity. Integrity means everything. When Brock educates his customers, he knows they can make wise decisions, spend their money well, and better understand their vehicles going forward. He’s happy to meet with customers, discuss service options, and share his two decades of experience in any situation.
Under Brock’s leadership, everyone on the Thunderbird team follows this simple philosophy. When we treat you right, we hope you remain a loyal customer.

At Thunderbird Auto, you can expect the highest level of customer service and the best quality services or repairs. Every driver receives upfront pricing, and we only begin repairs after you approve our estimate.
We also offer free loaners, free second opinions, same day service in many cases, free check engine light scans, affordable financing, and a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty on all repairs.
Community Service
Hosting a charity golf tournament to raise awareness for suicide prevention, supporting local schools, offering specials for members of the community, and hosting a sale for healthcare heroes, John and Thunderbird Auto remain a vital part of the Phoenix community.
